Julius "Dr.J" Erving played for two basketball leagues, the American Basketball Association(ABA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played in the ABA from 1971-1976 with the Virginia Squires then the New York Nets, and played in the NBA from 1976-1987 with the Philadelphia 76ers. Dr. J performed his own style of play with moves that have never been created before him. He won the very first slam dunk contest where he became the first to leap from the free throw line and dunk the ball in. He is truly the revolutionary of the slam dunk and is the greatest ABA player of all time and one of the greatest players of all time period.
