
Dominique Wilkins, nicknamed "Human Highlight Film", played 15 seasons in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, and the Orlando Magic. Although Wilkens played for many teams, he is best remembered for playing with the Atlanta Hawks. Wilkins is well regarded as the most explosive dunker of all time and one of the greatest dunkers of all-time. He is best known for his acts in the slam dunk contest.


Bio:
Jacques Dominique Wilkins was born on January 12, 1996, in Paris France. He attended Washington High School, located in Washington, North Carolina. Because of his incredible athleticism, Wilkins was invited to perform in many national games such as the McDonald's All-American High School Game, the Kentucky Derby, and the Capital Classic. In 1979, Wilkins joined Georgia University where he showed off his high-flying style of play that was bound to earn him a high pick in the draft.


Wilkins was selected the third pick in the first round of the 1982 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz but was traded to the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks became a powerhouse due to Wilkins and his alliance with players like Doc Rivers, Spud Webb, Kevin Willis, and Tree Rollins.

Wilkins participated his first dunk contest in 1985 against players like Michael Jordan, Julius Erving, Clyde Drexler, and Larry Nance. He performed a 360 slam dunk, a windmill slam dunk, a reverse slam dunk, a self alley-oop reverse slam dunk, and a two-hand cradle slam dunk to win the title. Wilkins also participated in the contests in 1986, 1988, and 1990 and his last contest won was in 1990.


In 1994, Wilkins was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers and the next season signed with the Boston Celtics for one season.


After playing for one season in the European league, Wilkins signed with the San Antonio Spurs for a season then went back to Europe and then finally played one last season signing with the Orlando Magic.
