
Tim Duncan, nicknamed "The Big Fundamental" played 19 seasons in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs. As a five-time champion and a two-time back-to-back MVP, Duncan was deemed unstoppable throughout his entire career. Duncan is arguably the best San Antonio Spur of all-time and is the greatest power forward of all-time.

Timothy Theodore Duncan was born on April 25, 1976, in Saint Croix, Virgin Islands. Growing up, Duncan enjoyed swimming as it was his desire to compete in the Olympics. Duncan has an older sister who competed in a swimming event in the 1988 Summer Olympics. But in 1989, the notorious Hurricane Hugo destroyed the island's athletic pool which decreased Duncan's interest in the sport. Soon after Duncan would turn to basketball. He attended St. Dunstan's Episcopal High School and by the time Duncan was a senior, he averaged 25 points per game.

Duncan attended Wake Forest University in North Carolina, where he became a two-time ACC Player of the Year and a three-time NABC Defensive Player of the Year.

Duncan was selected as the first pick in the first round of the 1997 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs.

As a rookie, Duncan .joined forces with NBA All-Star David Robinson and formed a duo known as "The Twin Towers". Duncan averaged 21.1 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 blocks per game as a rookie and also won Rookie of the Year.

Duncan won his first true victory in his second season when the Spurs versed the New York Knicks in the 1999 NBA Finals. With a team consisting of coach Gregg Popovich and players such as Duncan, Robinson, Sean Elliot, Avery Johnson, and Steve Kerr the Spurs won the series 4-1.

In 2003, Duncan and Robinson the Spurs came back to the NBA Finals against the New Jersey Nets. The Spurs won the series 4-2.

Duncan's next victory was in 2005 in the NBA Finals against the reigning champion Detroit Pistons. Over the last few years after the Spurs 1999 championship and with Robinson retired, the Spurs acquired the talents of Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, and Bruce Bowen to help in their 4-3 win against the Pistons.

In 2007, Duncan and the Spurs would make it back to the Finals, against the up and coming LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Spurs swept the Cavaliers 4-0.

In 2013, the Spurs went up against the super-team Miami Heat led by LeBron James. The Spurs lost the series 4-3.

After their loss in the Finals, the Spurs came back to the Finals against the Heat, the Spurs would win the series 4-1.
